Press Release: Local and Regional Legislators to Join Golden Harvest Food Bank to Address Hunger
AUGUSTA (05/20/25) – Golden Harvest Food Bank will welcome elected officials from across its 24-county service area on Thursday, May 22 at 10:00 AM for the Food Bank’s third annual Feeding the Future roundtable discussion. The event will take place at Golden Harvest’s main campus, located at 3310 Commerce Drive in Augusta, Georgia.
Newly released Feeding America data reveals that 1 in 6 people and 1 in 4 children across the region are facing food insecurity, highlighting the growing need for local solutions and collaborative leadership. This conversation will give attendees a clear view of the hunger landscape in both urban and rural communities and invite meaningful input from those working closest to the issue.
“We are honored to bring our elected leaders together for this timely and important discussion,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “Together, we can build a future where no child, no family, and no neighbor has to wonder where their next meal will come from.”
Following the roundtable discussion, guests and members of the media will be invited to tour Golden Harvest’s Augusta Campus and Produce Rescue Center, which houses expanded warehouse and distribution facilities designed to meet the growing demand for fresh, healthy food across the region.
Interview opportunities with Golden Harvest leadership and attending elected officials will be available after the tour.
To RSVP or schedule interviews, please contact Priscilla Elliott at pelliott@goldenharvest.org or (706) 736-1199, ext. 223.
