Clifford Grove Baptist Church in Wilkes County receives $40,000 to support agency operations.
Since its inception in 2001, the Golden Harvest Food Bank endowment, known as the Food Forever Fund (FFF), has been a cornerstone of support for our mission. Launched after a generous gift from attorney Oscar Allen, this endowment has flourished with additional legacy gifts, enabling our crucial work to thrive for over twenty years.
Over the years, this legacy fund has supported Golden Harvest’s mission by providing annual financial distributions to support the Food Bank’s operations. This has helped facilitate the distribution of over 200 million meals during that time.
This year, thanks to the Food Forever Fund, 20 organizations within our service area have received vital support to enhance their capacity and strengthen food security efforts. The FFF endowment board awarded $300,000 in grants, with individual grants ranging from $700 to $40,000, ensuring that these organizations can continue to make a profound impact, especially in our rural counties.
“In the rural areas, the resources are few and far between,” said Mike Firmin, Board Chair of the Food Forever Fund and Golden Harvest Founder. “So, this is a way to jumpstart the dreams that people in rural areas also have to help their people in need.”
St. Mary’s/St. Vincent DePaul Society of Aiken receives funds for partner investments.
As more generous individuals include the Food Forever Fund in their donations and wills, Firmin hopes that these grants will continue to grow, ensuring ongoing support for the fight against hunger.
There are many ways to invest in this endowment. As a donor, you can enjoy the impact of your gift in addressing food insecurity for your neighbors today while also leaving a lasting legacy in the long-term fight against hunger.
