Building a Fresher Future

If you’ve been by the Golden Harvest Food Bank Augusta warehouse, you may have noticed a few different things: a new sign and a construction crew. 

With the launch of our new branding a few months ago, we are currently in the process of giving our old buildings and facilities a face-lift to fully meet the needs of those we serve in our 25-county area. 

Last year, we identified an 8.8 million meal gap across our service area and adopted a strategic plan to eliminate the gap by 2030. One of our first priorities is to increase our capacity, which is currently underway at our main offices and warehouse. 

The construction marks the beginning of our Phase 1 Renovation Project. The renovations to the building will include a designated volunteer packing and sorting area, a new entrance to better share our mission with the community, increased office and conference room space, and a small chapel.

Phase 1 is expected to be complete in summer of 2023. Phase 2, the construction of our Produce Rescue facility, which will replace our Faith Food Factory, will begin this fall. 

Both projects will greatly increase our efficiency and capacity while allowing us to welcome more volunteers to serve alongside us. In turn, we will be able to provide our partners with more healthy produce and meats to distribute directly into the hands of those who need it most. These improvements are exciting and much-needed, and they will allow us to better support our community partners and neighbors who rely on us.
