AUGUSTA (01/21/26) – As colder weather moves into the region and the potential for icy conditions increases, Golden Harvest Food Bank is encouraging neighbors to prepare ahead when possible.

“We know that the most vulnerable in our communities are impacted most by weather events, especially neighbors who lack housing or the ability to stock up on food and resources ahead of time,” said Amy Breitmann, President and CEO of Golden Harvest Food Bank. “Planning ahead, when possible, can help ensure families have what they need if travel becomes difficult or power outages occur.”

Community members who are able are encouraged to visit a local pantry to pick up shelf-stable food and essential items before conditions worsen. Neighbors can use Golden Harvest’s Food Finder at goldenharvest.org/find-help to locate a nearby pantry or food distribution site.

Here at Golden Harvest Food Bank, teams are actively preparing facilities and generators to reduce the possibility of food spoilage and limit disruptions to service. The organization will continue to share updates regarding any potential service disruptions at its Augusta campus, Aiken campus, or The Master’s Table Community Kitchen through its Facebook page and direct communications. Golden Harvest Food Bank remains committed to serving neighbors facing food insecurity while carefully balancing continued service with safety considerations related to weather and road conditions.
