Wheels Up volunteers prepare food boxes at a Mobile Market in front of Golden Harvest’s Aiken Warehouse. They served 120 meals at The Master’s Table Soup Kitchen and provided 326 families with nutritious food at the Mobile Market in Aiken as part of a Day of Service.

The line of cars that starts in front of Golden Harvest’s Aiken warehouse winds over a mile down side streets and out onto Banks Mill Road. Gail, a senior living in the Aiken area, pulls through the line as volunteers from private aviation company Wheels Up load food into her trunk.

“This food has helped me so much. There are so many bills that come in that I can’t pay,” Gail says. “I’m struggling on social security disability, and it just helps so much. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart and from everyone who is struggling.”

Before loading the cars of 335 families at the Mobile Market in front of Golden Harvest’s Aiken warehouse, Wheels Up volunteers served 120 meals at The Master’s Table Soup Kitchen as part of their Day of Service with the Food Bank. The day kicked off with a thank-you breakfast for our team at Daniel Field Airport with Wheels Up’s Orange Plane, which is painted orange for hunger awareness.

Wheels Up flies patrons into the CSRA every year for the Masters and wanted to give back. “We are honored to be working with Golden Harvest Food Bank in order to support the community,” said Gail Grimmett, Chief Experience Officer at Wheels Up. “This is a special place for us. We really want to recognize that they’ve done so much for us over the years, and it’s our turn to give back.”

In addition to distributing over 5,500 meals during their Day of Service, Wheels Up Cares donated to provide 100,000 more meals to local families who are struggling.

“We are so thankful to Wheels Up for their generous gift and day of service,” said Amy Breitmann, Golden Harvest’s Executive Director. “This partnership will touch the hearts and change the lives of so many local families, children, and seniors as they recover from the impacts of the pandemic.”
