MOBILE FOOD PANTRY

Volunteers are needed to help us distribute 5,000-10,000 pounds of fresh produce to rural counties in our service area that lack an established food pantry. Once the truck arrives on location, volunteers assist in unloading, unboxing, and distributing the produce to hungry individuals waiting in line.

This is a great service project for volunteers who want to interact with the individuals and families we serve. Recommended age for this service project is 13. Volunteers should be able to lift 10-20 pounds and comfortable standing for 2-3 hours.

FAQ

(click question for answer)
  • How do I become a volunteer?

The first step is to fill out an online volunteer inquiry form. Once that is complete, you will need to attend a volunteer orientation.

  • Can my children volunteer with me?

Faith Food Factory: Volunteers are accepted as young as 8 years old. If the child is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must to accompany the child. If children are volunteering as part of a group, there must be 1 chaperone for every 4 children.

The Master’s Table: Volunteers are accepted as young as 13 years old. If the child is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must to accompany the child. If children are volunteering as part of a group, there must be 1 chaperone for every 4 children. A volunteer must be at least 18 years of age to work in the kitchen. Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome to volunteer in the dining area.

  • Can I just show up?

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate walk-up volunteers. All volunteer shifts have a maximum capacity due to space and resource limitations. It is our goal to provide the best possible experience for each of our volunteers, so it is important for us to know in advance when you are coming in order to provide the supplies and supervision to get the job done.

  • What if I need to cancel?

You can sign on to your VicNet account and cancel or contact ANN MALAY.

  • What if more people in my group want to come than signed up?

Please contact ANN MALAY to see if there is additional room for them.

  • Can I choose when I come?

Through VicNet you are able to see the volunteer schedule and choose the times that best fit your needs. We do ask that if you sign up for a shift that you stay the entire shift.

  • Is there a dress code?

Volunteers are required to wear jeans and shirts with sleeves. Closed toed shoes are required; sandals and flip flops are not permitted. We ask that clothing be in good taste; no tight or baggy clothing will be permitted. Volunteers may be asked to wear food service gloves or hair nets due to Health Department requirements. GHFB will provide hair nets and gloves if needed.

  • Do you accommodate people with disabilities?

Every effort will be made to accommodate people with disabilities. For further information, please contact ANN MALAY.
