AUGUSTA, GA (04/27/26) – Wellstar Health System, in partnership with Golden Harvest Food
Bank and Augusta Locally Grown, is launching the Wellstar Augusta Mobile Market, a
collaborative initiative designed to improve access to nutritious food through coordinated
healthcare and community-based services.
This partnership brings together healthcare, hunger relief, and local food systems to provide a more connected approach to supporting community health. Participants will receive nutritious shelf-stable food boxes and grocery items from Golden Harvest Food Bank, fresh produce sourced through Augusta Locally Grown’s network of local farmers, and on-site health education provided by Wellstar.
“Access to nutritious food is foundational to good health. The Augusta Mobile Market builds upon Wellstar’s longstanding health equity commitment to meeting people where they are and
addressing food insecurity through strong community partnerships,” said Elise Lockamy-Kassim, assistant vice president, Community Health and Center for Health Equity, Wellstar Health System.
The Mobile Market is intentionally structured to serve patients and participants connected to select partner programs and clinics, with initial outreach focused through Harrisburg Healthcare, Golden Harvest’s hunger relief network partner at the Hub for Community Innovation. This phased approach supports coordinated service delivery and ensures partners can connect individuals to both food and health-related resources. The TD Jakes Foundation awarded Wellstar Foundation $50,000 to support this initiative, in partnership with Wellstar Health System, Golden Harvest, and Augusta Locally Grown. Their contribution has been instrumental in making this project possible. “This partnership reflects what’s possible when healthcare and community organizations come together,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “By connecting patients directly to food resources, we are helping support healthier outcomes and stronger communities.”
